We’d love to receive donations to our local chapter. Donations can be for a specific project, area of our work, in honor of someone or in memory of someone.
1.We are very excited about our current project at the Wetlands on Salem Rd in Rochester- buckthorn eradication! See our Facebook page for photos. In 2018 board members began removing buckthorn on a section of the trail, putting in many volunteer hours. In 2019 we received a donation from a Family Foundation to continue the work. We hired Prairie Restoration to work on an area with potential to become an Oak Savana. Board members again contributed volunteer hours. In 2020 we were the recipients of another Foundation donation with the board of the chapter voting to match the grant, expanding the area of buckthorn removal. We were also awarded a grant from the Mn.Division of the IWLA which indicates the value of our project and their support of our project.
Now in 2021 we need your support! We want to finish the woods around the trail and include buckthorn removal on our islands. We are counting on any size donation from the hundreds of people who enjoy this special spot.
2.We are currently working on making our historic cabin more conservation minded
with plans based on an energy audit.
3. Another focus to donate to is our Scholarship Fund for local students
who demonstrate excellence in learning and sharing about conservation topics.
